The charity I chose to support in this year’s SilverTech SilverStar Awards is Make-A-Wish NH. Although I cannot say I have personal experience with the organization (and I count my blessings every night), I have observed the sheer ‘magic’ this amazing organization brings to families with children suffering chronic or life threatening illness.
I have several friends who are dealing with the long battle associated with childhood cancer. The act of granting wishes (without wish discrimination and on wishes of any magnitude) will not cure a child’s disease and will not make a child less sick. However it does the next best thing to a cure. It provides children immediate joy and provides families with hope – not of being cured but of finding a sense of happiness in the midst of overwhelming feelings of sadness. It helps families to forget the burden of constant medical care and worry and allows them to spend time laughing, enjoying each others’ company and gives well-deserving parents what they want out of life most – a happy child.
Make-A-Wish NH has granted over 800 wishes. However, wish referrals are coming in faster than the funds needed to support them.
Help me support Make-A-Wish NH, an amazing organization grant more wishes for very brave, courageous New Hampshire children who deserve to be happy. Cast your free vote by clicking the ‘Vote’ star next to my picture on the SilverStar tab SilverTech page on Facebook.
Please take a moment to vote now because the voting will end on December, 31, 2010.
