I’m supporting the ARDS Foundation (www.ardsusa.org) because I lost my father to ARDS in 2005. Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is a condition that severely degrades the lungs’ ability to function and is often caused by a prior trauma or illness – in my father’s case it was pneumonia. Despite the fact that more than 150,000 Americans are diagnosed with it every year and the mortality rate is about 40%, very little is known about exactly what causes ARDS and there is no proven therapy to treat the disorder.

Jason, I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you so much for supporting ARDS Foundation. It is so appreciated. I took had ARDS and against all odds, somehow I survived. Everyday, I try to do something to make a difference and I appreciate anything that anyone else does because together we can do so much more. You too are making a difference in honor of your father’s memory. Eileen
I am so sorry you lost your father. I lost a daughter to it in 1998.
My son-in-law died of ARDS in August of 2007. He and my daughter were married just over two years. He started out with pneumonia. ARDS is devastating with little research and more so; no real cure.
I lost my girlfriend to ARDS via pneumonia via a bladder operation on Sunday 5th Dec 2010, despite the use of an oscillator she never recovered and died peacefully,
to watch the blood oxygen levels never increasing is so so stressful for all, ARDS is devastating.
Ted, Debbie, and Eileen,
Thank you for posting. I am sorry for everything you all have gone through and this is why we are looking to continue doing this as a company. Appreciate your support.
Jeff
Thanks for the good thoughts and support. I’m surprised to see so many people on this little message board who have been impacted by the condition. Hopefully we can all do our part to work toward a cure or at least a effective treatment.
Good Luck Jason..so sorry to hear of the loss of your father to this awful illness..I lost my Mom on Jan 12 2007 to ARDS..
