The Webby Awards, the world’s most respected honor for the Web, recognized SilverTech as an Honoree on Tuesday for their design and development of Pizza Fusion, a Florida-based organic gourmet pizza chain. Here’s some trivia for you, what was the first music video played on MTV, when the station premiered in August of 1981? I know some of you weren’t born yet, thanks for rubbing that in. However, trivia buffs will know it was “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles. Great name for a band – the 80′s were a bit weird.
Anyway, that fateful day ushered in the age of video that would – who knew – lead us to YouTube. Back in the day if you wanted to shoot video you had to buy a pretty bulky camera that used VHS. For the youngsters in the crowd that’s what those black, rectangular cassettes are, that are sitting in your parents’ (and my) entertainment center. Today, you can shoot good quality video using a cell phone. And any video can become “viral”. Remember the kid with the Star Wars light saber? (more…)

Recently a colleague and I attended a technology discussion forum in Boston, Massachusetts, on the value and future of social media in today’s marketplace. It was an interesting event, and although they disagreed on some points, the panel seemed unified on what the general future holds for social media. Some of their thoughts and observations I completely agreed with, and on others I shared a different opinion.

First… this is long post because a few words just cannot describe what I saw at the PAX East Conference this past weekend. Sorry…but read on and you will quickly understand. Trust me.
Before I get too deep into this, let me describe how I can relate to the gaming industry. I am a pretty normal (or what I think is normal) gaming person. I have PS3, the Wii, and at one time in my life played PC games. I play the Wii mostly with my kids here and there. I am a single game type of player… I get the new hottest game like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and play it when the entire house is asleep and all my other responsibilities are complete… So, in other words…I rarely get an opportunity to play.
